Perhaps one of the most exciting changes for me in 2025 has been joining the AI Localization Think Tank, an alliance of experts, innovators, and problem-solvers at the intersection of AI and localization. Our goal? To help language professionals prepare best for an AI future in the localization space – not just to keep up with it, but lead with it.
What sets this think tank apart is that it provides a home for diverse and inclusive perspectives on AI’s impact on localization with honesty, curiosity and a critical eye. This is a space where tough questions are welcomed, fresh insights are shared and bold ideas are nurtured.
Make no mistake – this is not about the AI. This is about the humans, the people behind localization, finding ways to navigate through all the noise, learn, grow, adapt, and thrive in the age of AI. We’re here to foster a collaborative exploration on this critical topic, and create a safe, open space to find answers and make sure we shape the future of our sector.
What started as an idea at TEF2024 has resulted in a collective of 20 brilliant minds and passionate hearts from across the localization spectrum (including two other Athena consultants) that I love to meet with on a monthly basis to tackle anything from technical innovation to existential questions about our roles and responsibilities in an AI-driven world, about our jobs, about our lives.
These discussions fuel a growing body of content on our website. where we share answers to pressing questions, thought leadership pieces on AI in localization, curated resources, industry event recaps, interviews with forward-thinking professionals, and this is just the beginning. We are constantly evolving, just like the field itself.
